Privacy policy

Your profile (name, gender, year of birth, weight, activity level, waking hours and meal times), the drinks you log, your cup and drink choices, your reminder and display settings, and a short log of app errors.

All of it is stored only in the app’s storage on your phone. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else: DrinkUp does not connect to any server of its own.

Only if you allow it, DrinkUp uses Android Health Connect to:

• read hydration records, so water logged in other apps counts towards your daily goal;
• write the drinks you log in DrinkUp as hydration records, so other apps can see them;
• read today’s step count, to raise that day’s water goal.

DrinkUp reads and writes hydration and steps only, and only for the last 30 days. Data from Health Connect is used for these features alone, stays on your phone, is never sold or shared with anyone, and is never used for advertising. You can withdraw access at any time in Health Connect’s settings.

DrinkUp’s use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Reminders are scheduled on your phone by the app itself. No push service is involved and nothing leaves the device.

Settings → Backup writes your data to a file, in a place you choose with the system file picker. DrinkUp never uploads it anywhere.

If Android’s own device backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include DrinkUp’s data in it. That backup is made and kept by Google under your account.

Settings → Delete profile and data erases everything DrinkUp keeps on this phone, and can also remove the records it wrote to Health Connect. Uninstalling the app erases its data too. Records in Health Connect can also be deleted in Health Connect itself.

DrinkUp is not directed at children, and collects no data from anyone.

If this policy changes, the new version is published here and in the app, with a new date at the top.
